It’s been a year of tough forecasts for the English Nationals. Our ambitions are always to seek solid, contestable surf for this contest, and a huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes to organise the Events. We are sure you will have seen our additional note regarding the decision last week to postpone, but if not CLICK HERE.
Our decisions are never made without substantial considerations, and many hours analysing forecasts on multiple platforms, and weighing up the options – our athletes and safety are always our number one priority.
BACK UP DATES update:
As you will be aware, our back up dates of Saturday 25th – Monday 27th October, had a clash with the GB Cup, which was disappointing given these had been scheduled prior to the announcement of the GB Cup.
However, with this in mind and working with stakeholders, and input from athletes and coaches, we are moving the back up dates to the Wednesday 29th – Friday 31st October. The primary location will remain as Fistral Beach, Newquay, Cornwall.
We sincerely apologise for the short notice of this change, but we hope you understand that it was made in the best interests of English surfing. A Nationals event without the opportunity for some of our top seeds to attend simply wouldn’t be viable. As this competition is a key factor in Team England selection, it’s imperative that all athletes are given the chance to compete.
We have never experienced so many unfortunate forecasts for an event, so this is exceptional circumstances, and we are incredibly thankful for your understanding.
REGISTRATION RE-OPENS:
Registration is now open until Monday, 13 October at 10:00 AM to give anyone newly able to attend the chance to register.

Athletes already registered for the original backup dates will have their registrations automatically carried over to the new dates.
REFUNDS:
Due to this late notice, if you can no longer attend the English Nationals, please email: Lauren@surfingengland.org to cancel your place and a refund will be processed within 7-10 working days. The deadline to let us know you will not be attending the new dates, is 09:00am Monday 13th October.
EVENT CALL:
The call for the new contest will be made no later than midday on Monday 27th October. If conditions look favourable, the call will be made sooner.
