Decathlon

Sport for the many.  That is the guiding mission for Decathlon, to provide good quality kit at a price that makes sport possible for the many.    Not traditionally known as a water sports brand, the team at Decathlon have dedicated a huge amount of resource to create some top notch and affordable surf and SUP equipment, ideal for those at the start of their surfing journey.

We are working with Decathlon to create a junior surf programme, taking youngsters through beach safety, catching their first waves, to basic turns on the clean face of the wave.  The programme will be used by schools and clubs across the country, giving youngsters a well-structured and super start to their surfing journeys. 

Together we are building our beginners hub, with heaps of useful info and videos guiding newbies through surf kit, beach safety, board selection, pop ups, basic manoeuvres, and surf etiquette.  We are also making sure all decathlon surf customers have access to discounted membership and surf insurance.

We love our dryrobes.  Simply the best ever changing robe, and essential piece of kit for any surfer.  Our event team swear by them, and we always have a stack on hand to keep our judges, athletes, and event team warm at comps.

2 Minute Beach Clean

Does exactly what it says on the tin.   The 2 minute foundation is a registered charity devoted to cleaning up our planet two minutes at a time.   Regular partners at our events, we often run beach cleaning mini comps and always leave the beach cleaner that we found it.

GB Surfing

A separate organisation to us, GB Surfing is responsible for selecting the British Team to compete at Olympic and Olympic pathway events, alongside working with UK Sport to deliver the High Performance Programme for British Athletes.  

Christian Surfers

Supporting and serving the UK surfing community since 1990, this group of passionate surfers, whose members are committed to their faith, run a host of events and competitions throughout the year. They are a welcoming and supportive bunch, always ready to lend a hand to help the surfing community.

Perhaps the single biggest contributor to extreme and freestyle sports in the world, Red Bull is a long-standing supporter of Surfing England, setting our National Champs on fire with the red bull DJ truck and helping us to deliver our biggest comps.

Rip Curl

Legendary surf company founded in 1969 in Torquay, Australia and famous for its surf apparel, especially wetsuits and the phenomenal FlashBomb series which are a must for our chilly waters. 

Ripcurl is the only major surf brand investing back into grassroots surfing in a meaningful way in the UK and we’re stoked to be continuing and growing our partnership with them, delivering two GromSearch events a year, giving almost 200 young rippers a chance to compete and go on to win a place in the GromSearch European Finals.  

The GromSeach competition started out in 1999 exclusively for youngsters under 16 and is held in various regions of the world, culminating with an international final.  It’s proven a real hotbed of talent over the years having uncovered future world champs Stephanie Gilmore (x7 world champ) and Gabriel Medina (x2 world champ) and many others.

Sport England

Tasked with transforming lives and communities through sport and physical activity, Sport England work with a huge number of partners to deliver that object by providing funding, insight, data, and expertise.  Sport England supported Surfing England during the pandemic, enabling us to keep delivering our work and we are in discussion about the future of English Surfing and how we grow and dynamic and inclusive NGB.

SportsAid

A charity that enriches the lives of talented young athletes by recognising and nurturing their abilities through and beyond sport. Now including Surfing as one of their supported sports, SportsAid are actively working with some of our most talented young athletes with grant awards, recognition, and personal development opportunities.

Surfers Against Sewage

The voice of the ocean, a community of ocean activists taking action to clean up our oceans and rivers.  Successfully changing UK policy for the good and leading on work in ocean plastics, ocean, water quality education and more.

UK Sport

The nations high performance sporting experts, powering our greatest athletes, teams, sports, and events to achieve positive success. Whilst not funding Surfing England directly, UK Sport is working with British Surfing to create a high performance programme for British Surfers.   Once running, this will give all those British Surfers access to coaching and support, helping to build our success on the world stage.

Vospers

Southwest dealership for Ford, Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Fiat and more.  Once Peter Vosper saw the work we are doing to push surfing forward, especially with adaptive surfing, he was immediately on board and wanting to help. Vospers now provide our Surf Truck, a Ford Ranger Ecoboost that hauls all our event kit across beaches around the country with style and ease!

The Wave

The visionary team at The Wave are responsible for bringing the world’s first Wave Garden Cove to life, and we keep pinching ourselves this amazing facility is on our doorstep in Bristol.   

You may not know, but the design ethos behind The Wave has accessibility at its heart, ensuring everyone can access their perfect waves as easily as possible.   This passion for accessibility in the surf began when founder Nick saw an early adaptive surfing event in California and knew we should be doing the same here.    6 years on and The Wave’s support for Adaptive Surfing has seen the Adaptive Surfing Championships blossom into an international event, hosted for the last two years at The Wave and the English National Team rising to 7th in the world.

The Wave is also Surfing England’s first High Performance Centre, hosting training for all our divisions, with particular emphasis on our junior team where the squad regularly train and benefit from video analysis and expert coaching utilising the repetitive and consistent nature of the waves produce to hone their technical skills.
