Surf Club Communities Amped from Epic Weekend on Perranporth Beach at English Interclub Championships

A rad weekend at the 2021 korev lager English Interclub Surfing Championships shows strength, depth & talent in our English Surf Club Community. We came together on Perranporth Beach, Cornwall for a fun-fuelled weekend of surf competition & socialising as we set the tone for the future years to come. A memorable weekend for so many… this is how it went down.

After some unlucky years of poor forecasts and covid restrictions, our Surf Clubs were chomping to unify on the beach for the 2021 korev lager English Interclub Surfing Championships. We welcomed Clubs from across England for an epic weekend as we basked in the October rays & waves lapped the shoreline.

Surf Clubs travelled to Cornwall from across the Southwest, stretching out to those making the crossing from the Isle of Wight, and the crowds of North Devon who made the journey South with their entourage of support.

Teams were submitted for Open, Women’s and Juniors, as all surf clubs charged with the goal of taking the 2021 Surf Club Champions. The surfing was epic to watch, and the graft from every surfer to make the most of the conditions really contributed to team spirit as clubs lined the shoreline cheering on their cohort.

Every surfer had 2 heats, one on Saturday and one on Sunday, racking up the points for their teams. When it came to the crunch, Newquay Boardriders A team took 2021 Surf Club Champions title, as well as claiming the Women’s and Junior overall champs. Croyde Surf Club A Open team charged hard to take the top spot in the Open title, just pinching it from Newquay.

Surfing England CEO, Ben Powis sums up the weekend “There was a special buzz right through the weekend, we might of all come together to surf and win some titles, but it really was the social side that lit up this champs. Amazing support for the surfers on the beach, old friends coming together & new friendships formed over a korev or two. For me, this is what surfing is all about. Fun”

The Surf Clubs also spoke “Everyone is so vibing. New Interclub memories, characters and myths established. Some folk (young and old) will remember that weekend fondly for the rest of their lives. How cool is that.”

Two unique awards were given at this event, enabled by dryrobe.
