2021 korev lager English Interclub Surfing Championships are called ON
We are so amped to announce the 2021 korev lager English Interclub Surfing Championships are ON this weekend, 16th – 17th October, at Perranporth Beach. The event site will be adjacent to The Watering Hole.
Whilst the forecast is looking somewhat marginal, our competing Surf Clubs have been consulted and are raring to go. This is the strength of the community, the desire to come together for a weekend of surfing & socialising, after a tough 18 months of covid restrictions, and some unlucky forecasts in the years before.
We will adapt to the conditions as the forecast locks in with options for tag team event, ramping up the korev lager beer flags, foamie board shoot out, and the contest as planned when contestable conditions allow. Bring your mid-lengths, your longboards, let’s make this happen.
On Saturday evening, headline partners korev have kindly supplied tokens for everyone* to enjoy a refreshing pint of lager from our hosts The Watering Hole.
We look forward to seeing everyone on the beach & are so excited for an epic weekend with our amazing Surf Club community.
SATURDAY CHECK IN: All surfers, please check in at 8.30am on SATURDAY, we plan to start the first heat at 9.00am.
EVENT FORMAT:
The format for the traditional English Interclubs is:
- Every surfer surfs twice (once each day)
- Points from your heat placing go towards your team total
- At the end of day one, a redraw will be run based on the overall club rankings at this time.
- This will mean on day two surfers may compete against different people, if the new seeding/redraw determines this.
- At the end of the event, Champions are awarded in Overall Surf Club Champions, Open, Women, and Junior Champions.
Heat points are awarded:
1st place – 10 points
2nd place – 8 points
3rd place – 6 points
4th place – 4 points
LIVEHEATS – We will be using liveheats for the contest schedule and live scoring for each heat. Please ignore the automatic progression as we will reseed the heats at the end of day one as by the overall surf club rankings at this time and redraw for day two.
The overall ranking positions of Surf Club Teams, Open, Women, and Junior will be manually calculated on excel, and communicated to teams at the end of day one.
The draw is not yet published but when finalised will be available on the link below.
