2018 English Adaptive Surfing Open
June 30th 2018 – Fistral Beach, Cornwall
Surfing England, its partners and sponsors are proud to bring you our 2018 English Adaptive Surfing Open. Following on from the success of last years’ inaugural event we welcome adaptive surfers and volunteers to Fistral Beach in Cornwall on Saturday 30th June 2018. Organisers also invite Surfing England affiliated Surf Clubs and Accredited Surf Schools/coaches to an introductory adaptive experience, with professional training, coaching and workshops designed to increase adaptive surfing experience, opportunity and inclusivity in our community.
The event comes at a significant time with the continued development of our English adaptive surfing surfing programme and in line with the global momentum for the discipline, including the World Adaptive Surfing Games and the new European Adaptive Championships later this year.
The event will see adaptive surfers united in a common love for surfing, and with the goal of taking open and national surfing titles, whilst having fun and competing against their peers, in divisions identified by their surfing functional ability; Assisted; Prone; Sitting/Kneeling; Standing & Open.
Surfing England aim to raise the profile and opportunity for adaptive surfing and build off the important work being done by many surfing organisations across the world. Surfing England see Adaptive Surfing as an integral part of a ‘Healthy English Surfing Community’ and an area that they want to celebrate and grow – as their second Adaptive event they hope to learn and provide a day of inclusivity, rivalry and enjoyment.
