The world famous Rip Curl Grom Search returns to the shores of North Devon again this June as surfers battle out alongside the sweet rhythms of the Goldcoast Oceanfest surf and music festival in Croyde Bay. These junior surfers will be looking for glory and happiness, whilst surfing to secure points as part of a three stop UK search for the best junior surfers.
The event is held at Croyde Bay on Saturday June 16th and Sunday June 17th and will hold divisions for boys and girls Under 12’s, Under 14’s and Under 16’s in a competitive and friendly environment. A welcoming introduction to competitive surfing for some, and for others (under 16’s only) a chance to earn points towards securing a place at the World Grom Search finals.
A new entry system is being trialled for the event as Surfing England and Rip Curl consider trialling a live scoring system for either part or all of the event. The new online entry system via developing global LiveHeats system will also give a new portal for surfers to enter through and a profile where all surfers results can be stored, so we hope that the process is simple and enjoyable to use. Additional entry instructions can be found at the bottom.

Across the three events (Jersey, Devon & Cornwall) surfers receive points for their results in each event, their top two results then count towards a National Grom Search ranking system. Under 16 division surfers leading the ranking at the end of the events will then qualify for the Rip Curl Grom Search World Final, to be held “Somewhere epic”.
Entry closes on Monday June 12th at 5pm. Entry is based on first come first served and is limited to two categories only per surfer but may be limited to single category entry only if the event is oversubscribed. So, a surfer can enter the under 12 girls and under 14 girls, but if the event is oversubscribed then we may limit the surfer to only enter their original age category (u12s), a refund will be issued for the other if that is the case during the week before the event.
Membership of Surfing England or another home nation federation (Wales, Scotland or Channel Islands) is required to enter. Surfing England membership can be completed online via www.surfingengland.org
