This course requires a Surfing England Surf Coach memberhip and an L1 certifiicate as a prerequisite.

Why do I need a coach membership and certificate?

The Surf Coach Progression Course requires you to be a registered Surf Coach Member and to have uploaded your Current Surf Coach Certificate.

As a Surf Coach Member, you'll receive:

  • All the benefits of Individual Membership
  • Registration as a Surf Coach with your NGB
  • Access to coach-only courses and resources
  • Optional coaching insurance (Enhanced membership)

Complete your membership and upload your certificate

You must upload your Current Surf Coach Certificate to continue.

Please upload your original surf coach certificate. Certificates from BSA, ISA, ASI and Surfing Australia are also recognised, along with those from Surfing England.

Enhanced Surf Coach Membership

  • Receive comprehensive personal accident cover with Enhanced Coaching membership (for full details see Personal Accident Schedule in the Insurance Zone)
  • A public listing will also be created on the Surfing England website with an Enhanced Surf Coach Membership to market your Coaching Services
  • Become Grom Squad facilitator – purchase Log Books and a Coaching Manual when you enroll
  • T&Cs apply: your turnover does not exceed £35,000 and you do not spend more than 5 months of the year living outside of the UK, you must not be operating a commercial surf school, not be a limited company and not employ any additional coaches
