About
Geddon Maid! Welcome to Mormaids, a community helping women reclaim the waves. No pressure. No judgement. Just good people and hopefully good surf. Mormaids started in 2022 as a small WhatsApp group of friends. Today it’s an amazing community of women across Cornwall. Our volunteer committee runs regular Thursday after-work surf meet-ups along the Newquay and Padstow coast. We also host social events, workshops and our annual inclusive surf comp - Queen of the Maids. We’re proudly Cornish-founded. Even our name comes from the Cornish language: Mor meaning sea, Maids meaning women. And so, celebrating Cornish culture is also a big part of what we do. We welcome a mix of abilities, but members must be confident handling themselves in the water. Mormaids is a community club, not a surf school, so we don’t provide instructors. But that doesn’t stop us from calling each other into waves! Membership is £50 per year. Sessions start spring ‘26 and run through to autumn. Every penny goes straight back into the club, covering Surfing England affiliation, insurance and our events. Once you sign up, you’ll receive an email with a link to join the members WhatsApp group, where all surf meets are organised. We can’t wait to share some waves with you soon.Information
