Want to compete in the U12 or U14 Shortboard divisions at the 2026 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships?

Here’s a reminder of how you can secure your place for the 2026 Nationals being held at The Wave, Bristol, on Thursday 29 October 2026.
Up to 64 places available
There are up to 64 places available across the U12 and U14 shortboard divisions, with two routes to Nationals:
- Up to 32 places through the Junior Surf Series (JSS)
- Up to 32 places through Wildcard applications
There are two pathways to one goal: the English National Championships.
Qualify through the Junior Surf Series
The Junior Surf Series is the first route to qualifying for Nationals.
Eligible 1st and 2nd place finishers at each JSS stop can earn an automatic place at the English National Championships.
If a surfer has already qualified, their place can roll down to the next eligible surfer, up to sixth place where applicable.
If a Junior Surf Series stop is cancelled, places will convert to Wildcard applications.
If you don’t qualify through the JSS?
You can apply for a Wildcard.
Wildcard applications give surfers another opportunity to earn a place at the English National Championships.
Your application should demonstrate that you are ready to compete at National Championship level.
What do I need to apply?
Your Wildcard application will ask you to provide evidence of your current surfing ability, including:
- Competition results and information about your competitive experience
- If available, video clips of your surfing or links to social media showing your surfing ability
Make sure you provide the strongest and most relevant evidence of your current surfing ability.
When can I apply?
Wildcard applications open:
Monday 7th September 2026
Applications close:
Thursday 24th September 2026 at 10am
Applications and all supporting evidence must be submitted before the deadline.
How are Wildcards chosen?
Wildcard applications will be reviewed by a panel of Surfing England qualified judges and officials.
Applications will be assessed based on the strength of the information and evidence provided, including:
- Competition results
- Current surfing ability
- Competitive experience
- Readiness to compete at National Championship level
Wildcard places will be confirmed by Thursday 1st October 2026.
We are working closely with the team at The Wave on a very exciting competition format for this years U14 & U12 English National Surfing Championships! Athlete skills will be tested on different wave settings throughout the knockout rounds.
