2025 English National Surfing Championships
We’re thrilled to announce the dates for the 2025 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships!
Building on the success of last year’s expanded 3-day Priority championships, this year’s U16, U18, and Open contest will again follow this format. Excitingly, for the first time in the event’s history, the U12 and U14 shortboarders will also compete under Priority rules, at a second event in May. This change reflects our commitment to providing more development opportunities for surfers and advancing the skills of our judging team. It’s a pivotal step for young athletes preparing to represent Team England on the world stage.
For those new to priority, it essentially means that once priority is established, the surfer with priority (displayed using a board with rash vest colours), has unconditional right of way to catch whatever wave they choose. Other surfers can paddle for the same wave, but if the surfer with priority chooses to take it and another surfer is in the way, then a priority interference may be called. Event 1:
What: Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships
When: Saturday 5th > Monday 7th April, with backup dates of Saturday 3rd > Monday 5th May.
Where: Fistral Beach, Cornwall
Divisions: Shortboard only – Men’s/Women’s Opens, U18 Boys/Girls, U16 Boys/Girls
Event 2:
What: Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships
When: Saturday 17th May, with a backup date of Saturday 24th May.
Where: Watergate Bay, Cornwall
Divisions: Shortboard only – U14 Boys/Girls, U12 Boys/Girls
Registration Info
Competition entry will open approximately 6 weeks ahead of the event and all Surfing England member’s will be reminded on email. We expect both events to be in high demand so there will be event formats released ahead of entry opening, with policy information on the process we will take if oversubscribed.
Please note surfers are only permitted to enter one age-based division across the 2 weekends. E.g. Surfers are NOT permitted to surf in the U16s and U14s shortboard and compete at both weekends. We encourage surfers to compete in their respective age division. Surfers can, however, enter their respective age Division plus the OPEN Division. If you enter 2 age-specific divisions you will be withdrawn from the event.
Further National title events will be on hold in 2025. Many of our events are reliant upon sponsorships and we are actively looking for partners to support Surfing England, and our competition programme. More news to follow.
