The 2024 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships at Watergate Bay Postponed to May 17th-19th Due to Unfavourable Wave Conditions.
The highly anticipated Surfing Championships, scheduled to take place at Watergate Bay from May 4th-6th, have been Postponed. We feel it best to reschedule the event to May 17th-19th due to prevailing small wave conditions, with a small swell of approximately 1.5 feet and a period of less than 8 seconds.
The decision to postpone the Championships was made after careful consideration by event organisers and officials. Despite meticulous planning and preparation, we feel the current wave forecast does not meet the necessary standards required for a fair and competitive surfing competition.
We appreciate the understanding and patience of everyone involved. We are fully committed to delivering an exceptional event, and by rescheduling to the backup date of 17th-19th May.
Information will be available on our event website and social media channels and WhatsApp Group . The 2024 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships contest is all about searching the country for the best surfers in their respective divisions, and we have a full three days of competitive surfing action to fulfil. By postponing the contest, we really hope to see favourable conditions on the 17th – 19th May, to enable a fun weekend on the beach for all competing surfers.
The call for the backup date being called ON/ POSTPONED will be made by Midday Wednesday 15th May at the latest.
We aim to give all surfers the best opportunity to showcase their surfing, including for those U12s who are entering the world of competitive surfing for the first time up to the Kahuna 45+ divisions who are chasing a little more bite in the waves!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SURFERS:
All surfers who have confirmed places to compete will have these places automatically reallocated to the 17th – 19th May.
A school exemption letter will be issued for all Junior Divisions prior to the event, due to the event taking place on a Friday.
