2023 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Shortboard Open Championships Information
Surfing England are elated to announce the ‘2023 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships’ dates, with this year’s competition being split across two weekends in spring. Both competitions will head to the Cornish coast, home to a selection of England’s top waves, to crown the English national titles in shortboard surfing and bodyboarding.
The 2023 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships for Men’s and Women’s Shortboard Open titles will be held 15th – 16th April at Fistral Beach, Newquay.
The 2023 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships for Junior and Senior titles in shortboard and bodyboarding will be held 12th – 14th May at Watergate Bay, Newquay.
As we focus on progressing the quality of English surfing and looking to drive standards of our events, for 2023, we are introducing priority rules into our events programme. Priority rules will be implemented at our first English National Championships weekend in April, featuring Open Men’s and Women’s Shortboard divisions. As priority is new to our events, for this year it will just run on these divisions which will take place on single peak.
The second English National Championships weekend will be a busy three day double peak event, featuring all our age-group divisions from Under 12 to Over- 45s in shortboard surfing discipline, and Under 18s, and Open divisions in the bodyboard discipline. This competition weekend will not feature priority rules in determining the English National titles but will be considered in future years as we upskill our judges and capacity for priority. The nearest Caravan and Motorhome Certificated Location is Benn Park (Club members and adults only), 3 miles northeast of Newquay, just 1.5 miles from the coast. This campsite only has 5 pitches, and prices start at £20 per night.
The larger campsite of Treamble Valley is set in an incredible 36 acre woodland park, just 5 miles south of Newquay. From just £13/night for members. 2023 Caravan and Motorhome Club English National Surfing Championships – Men’s and Women’s Shortboard Open Titles
Entry will open on Friday 3rd March at 17.00pm via LiveHeats and entry will cost £35 for all divisions. The entry fee is higher than typical due to additional costs of priority, infrastructure, staff, etc.
High demand is anticipated for this event, so we recommend entering as soon as possible. Team England athletes will be prioritised for spaces.

You must be a Surfing England member to compete at either event. – you can check the status of your membership or set up a membership here.
