With under one month to go before the 2022 ISA World Para Surfing Championships gets underway, six of the athletes representing Team England, plus three of the support staff met together at The Wave on Wednesday for a day of training, catching up, and coaching.
Team England Para placed 7th last year at the world champs, and are now in the final phase of preparation. This training session formed one of three organised team training events, the next being in the ocean at Croyde on the 12th – 13th November, and the final one being back at The Wave for a day of training and also send off on Friday 25th November.
It is great to have a number of new athletes representing Team England at the World Championships this year, and it was brilliant to see Oli, Stephen, and Andy training on Wednesday.
The key sessions were on the advanced setting on the right 10am and midday, which meant that a number of ‘pushers and catchers’ had also to be available. A big thanks to everyone who got involved.
Following the first surfing, video analysis took place with Matty Hammersley, and the surfers could put into practise their development points for the afternoon session.
