Unfortunately the forecast has not lined up for this weekend’s planned Junior Surf Series event in Tynemouth and this is postponed to 15th and 16th October. Please see update from contest organisers from Tynemouth Surf Co, Mel and Louis.
Tynemouth Open Surf Competition – Contest Postponed until 15th & 16th October
Following extensive discussions with all those involved in running the event, as well as our partners, surfers, and surf forecasters we have taken the tough decision to postpone this very popular event from this weekend (8-9th October) until the following weekend, 15 – 16 October 2022.
This event is part of the North Sea Weekender Festival, and all other events apart from the surfing and sup side of things will continue as planned.
This decision was not taken lightly but we are very aware of the amount of travel and the planning that takes place, particularly if you don’t live locally and therefore want to give everybody as much notice as possible.
The good news is that all of the entries are still valid for next weekend, however if for some reason you cannot make the new date, then please let us know by Friday night at the latest email contact@tynemouthsurf.co.uk in which case we can give you a refund, and if there are spaces we can open up those categories that were full over the weekend for new entrants.
A very big thank you to everybody including Surfing England and North Tyneside Council for their involvement in the event which we are very excited about, but we want to make the right decisions at the right time to ensure everybody can plan.
With regards to the Surfing England Junior Surf series event that was part of the festival, the same applies as above and we look forward to welcoming the juniors up here again next weekend, weather and surf permitting.
All competitors will be receiving this note via email as well so keep an eye out for it … including in your junk mail.
