Surfing England are stoked to announce the Team England Adaptive Squad for 2021 – a stellar group of talented surfers who we are proud to have represent England in home competition and at International events. These surfers are supported by a fantastic volunteer team of coaches and managers.
In 2020, the team were one of a few disciplines who had an International Surf Contest run, when they attended the ISA Para Surfing Championships, in March, just before the true impact of coronavirus hit and lockdowns became part of day-to-day life. The Team performed exceptionally, and we are excited by the potential.
Another huge highlight of 2020 was the delivery of the Surfing England English Adaptive Open at The Wave, Bristol in early Autumn, where the surfers came together to showcase their skills. We look forward to returning to The Wave for training this year!
In no particular order the squad are as follow:
- Spike Kane
- Charlotte Banfield
- Melissa Reid
- Louis Sutton
- Suzanne Edwards
- Pegleg Bennett
- Martin Pollock
- Natasha Davies
- Mike Taylor
- Mark Bowra
- Morgan Rhys
- David Lewis
A huge thank you to all the volunteer support staff who give up their time to support the Team England Adaptive squad and make the delivery of this program possible.
Thank you to our Team England partners, dryrobe, Caravan and Motorhome Club, Surfdome, and The Wave.
Surfing England are committed to increasing the provision for and growth of adaptive surfing in England – our survey for the development of adaptive surf centres is open until the 2nd March for all surf schools, surf clubs, organisations, and coaches who deliver adaptive surfing to compete.
