“Dodo” surfing Montañita 2012
Good luck to Newquay charger Richard Dodd who is headed to Ecuador for the 2013 ISA World Masters Surfing Championship (WMSC) which starts on April 6th.
Durban born “Dodo” settled in Newquay aged 21 and regularly competes on the UK Pro surf tour competition circuit.
“I visited Ecuador last year and stayed and surfed at Montañita making a load of friends out there, so when I heard that the Masters would be held there I just knew I had to go back and take part.”
So keen to take part in fact that he has self funded his trip and is heading out as the lone GB representative where he’ll be up against some of the biggest names in surfing including last years double medal winner Sunny Garcia.
130 athletes representing more than 20 countries are expected to compete in the warm water and perfect right-hand point-break waves of Montañita, Ecuador for the Eduardo Arena Perpetual Team Trophy and individual Gold Medal who will be participating in the ISA World Masters Surfing Championship.
We wish him luck and you’ll be able to follow all the action from the 2013 ISA World Master Surfing Championship on the Live Webcast at www.isawmsc.com
