I grew up spending my summers in Devon and Cornwall and always loved being in the sea and catching waves. In 2011, while working at a surf camp in Morocco, I had an accident that left me paralysed from the waist down and a full-time wheelchair user. This life-changing event quickly revealed the challenges of accessing the beach and surfing, and it took me several years before I was ready to get back in the water. In 2018, I rediscovered surfing as a prone surfer and joined Team England at the World Para Surf Championships in La Jolla where I achieved a bronze medal in my category.
After a surfing hiatus for a few years due to work commitments, I rejoined the team in 2021 when I moved to North Devon and started competing again in 2023. I won the English Para Surf Championships for my division in 2023 and 2024 and achieved 4th place (copper medal) in the World Para Surf Championships in 2024.
My job as accessibility lead at Airbnb is full on and requires me to travel a lot as part of this role, so surfing is a great way for me to switch off from work and enjoy time in the water with great people.

Para Surf Prone 2 (assist)

Tash is a Bournemouth based surfer in the 'Prone Assist' division. Tash became a wheelchair user aged 13, having sustained a Spinal Cord Injury as a result of Transverse Myelitis which paralysed her from the chest down. Since then she has tried a number of different sports and discovered her love for surfing in 2019 down at Bournemouth Pier. Tash also enjoys surfing in Devon, Cornwall and at the Wave in Bristol.

Tash has surfed in the Para Surfing World Championships 3 times and in 2023 helped the team win a copper medal (4th place). She is looking forward to competing at the English Para Surf Championships in July, with the aim to compete in Europe and at the Words later on in the year.

Harlum is a three-time English Surfing Champion in the Prone 1 category, known for his talent, resilience, and commitment to adaptive surfing. He has proudly represented England at the ISA World Para Surfing Championships twice, achieving strong finishes with 11th and 13th place in the competitive Prone 1 division.
Based in North Devon, his local break is the long stretch of Westward Ho!—but his favourite spot to surf is the powerful, world-class waves of Croyde Bay. Whether training at home or competing internationally, Harlum brings passion, focus, and a deep love for the ocean to everything he does.
A dedicated ambassador for para surfing, he continues to break boundaries in the sport and inspire others through his journey, proving that determination and belief can take you anywhere—even to the world stage.
