Team England Para (Adaptive) are the elite surfers in this discipline. Para or also known as adaptive surfing is the form of surfing for people with a disability.
Our squad are ambitious and talented, training hard to win medals at the ISA World Para Surfing Championships, where our best performance was in 2023, placing 4th in the World as a team, as well as 3 individual medals. In 2024, the team placed 7th in the World, with 3 individual medals, an impressive result for a smaller team.
The team are supported by a brilliant network of knowledgeable coaches, specialists in fields such as psychology, all headed up by Phil Williams, Team Manager and Andy Banks, Head Coach. All the support staff are volunteers and we are hugely grateful for their commitment to Para Surfing.
The ISA are the World Governing body for surfing, and currently have 9 divisions for Para Surfing.
At Surfing England, we also run an annual English Para Surfing Open, a competition which brings together para surfers from all over the World to compete.
