Welcome to the home of Para-surfing (adaptive).
We are the Surfing England Adaptive Crew. A collective of surfers and volunteers from all walks of life and of all abilities bonded together by a love of wave riding and deep desire to make surfing as inclusive as possible.
Adaptive surfing or para-surfing is the art of wave riding for anyone with additional physical needs or challenges. It’s about casting disability aside, focusing on ability and the art of what is possible. It might mean that surfboards are adapted with extra pads, grips and handles, or the surfer might ride laying down or on their knees. Some surfers might also work with water support, for example as guides for the visually impaired to call them into waves, or pushers for those who struggle with paddling to launch into a wave.
It’s about working together to make the line up a more inclusive space and using surfing as a positive force for change.

We run an annual English Para Surfing Open contest. An annual pilgrimage for the Para Surfing community and the S.E.A. Crew to meet, share stories and of course surf. The standard of surfing will blow you away. This crew rips. So much so that Team England Para are now ranked 4th in the world. If you are new or wanting to get involved for 2024 we have launched a para surfing roadshow, supported by Saltrock. This is the perfect place to start your surfing journey.
As a team, Surfing England is at the forefront of Para/Adaptive Surfing globally with our athletes setting the world stage on fire. So you might be surprised that adaptive surfing gets no funding, not even for Team England. It is only with the support of the surfing community that we keep the adaptive journey alive.
