England finish 14th in ISA World SUP Championship debut
Team England returned from Denmark this week following their first ever appearance at the ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship.
Held at 2 venues over 9 days, first up was the amazing city of Copenhagen for the distance and sprint races. Great weather ensured a huge turn out, with the city course giving spectators a thrilling up close view and plenty of opportunity to cheer on competitors.
The second location at Vorupor was even better than expected and with mother nature playing ball for serving up waves for the 2 days of the surfing part of the competition.
The honour of England’s first ever ISA World SUP and Paddleboard Championship medal and podium place goes to Jack Coop who in his first ever international race placed 4th taking the copper medal in the Mens distance prone. LEGEND!!
The whole team put in strong performances across the Championships and are incredibly proud to have placed 14th in final classification. Other standouts included 17 year old Ben Pye in the distance sup event, Marie Buchanan in the Technical and Distance Sup races and as for Damian Warner getting to the Technical final
Hats off to Vice Chair of the ISA Casper Steinfath from Denmark who was the main ambassador/organiser for the event, his influence made the event such a success and we thank him and all the ISA team, competing athletes and new friends we made for an amazing world championships.
