Team England Para

Volunteer Fundraiser

Job Description

Surfing England

Surfing England is the sport’s National Governing Body (NGB), looking after all forms of wave riding, from community and club level to Team England’s most competitive surfers representing our country on the world stage. A major part of our remit is developing a talent pathway that is open and inclusive, supporting and nurturing the best talent in the county and giving our para (adaptive) surfers every opportunity to fulfil their potential.

Team England Para (adaptive) are our most internationally successful team, placing 4th in the World at the 2023 ISA World Para Surfing Championships. We now seek to bring a fundraiser to the Team to aspire to raise funds for coaching and contest costs, including the ISA World Para Surfing Championships.

Role and Responsibilities

To support the Para surfing programme and to get Team England out to the world championships we need to raise funds each year from a variety of sources. This includes commercial sponsors, grant applications, prize draws and crowd funding and supporting individual athletes with their own fundraising activity.

We are looking for someone who can work with the Team Manager to help raise funds for the team. This is likely to include:

  • Researching funding and grants and putting together applications
  • Putting sponsorship packs together
  • Helping to manage social or crowd funding initiatives.

The role is a crucial part of the team, as without funding many of the surfers would not be able to represent their country at the ISA World Para Surfing Championships.

Qualifications, skills, and abilities

  • Positive and ‘can do’ attitude.
  • Experience of writing funding applications
  • Experience of raising money for good / social causes
  • Excellent communicator, able to work with the team manager and Surfing England office.
