Join the Board!
We’re looking for two passionate and experienced people to join our Board as Non-Executive Directors, to help steer and evolve Surfing England as we face the challenges and opportunities of developing our sport and growing a dynamic and effective National Governing Body.
As we grow, we are working with more national partners like Sport England, Sports Aid and Sporting Equals as well as other sports and performance organisations. Having Board members that are not just passionate about surfing, but understand the wider sporting environment and can help us develop and foster these relationships is really important.
We’re stoked to be working with Level= on all our Board recruitment, part of our ongoing commitment to increase diversity across Surfing England, by using their unique recruitment process that manages bias and ensures fairness for all.
Both roles are voluntary, have a time commitment of c.12 days per year which includes Board and relevant Advisory Group meetings, along with related preparation and follow up with the Board and Executive. Board meetings are usually held online or in Bristol.
The Roles:
Non-Executive Director – Finance
We are looking for a chartered accountant with a passion for making a difference through surfing. Someone capable of overseeing the finances of the organisation, who can advise, guide and develop Surfing England’s financial management and reporting. Non-Executive Director – Performance
We are looking for an experienced performance or pathway leader in Olympic/Paralympic sport, who can help shape our performance pathway strategy and make meaningful connections to other sports’ performance programmes. With a robust understanding of performance sport, you will be passionate about developing talented surfers and putting their voice at the heart of our decision making.
