The Wave is the first inland-surfing destination of its kind, where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can experience the joy of surfing and its many physical and mental health benefits. But it’s not just about surfing. Our 180m long surfing lake is powered by Wavegarden. This groundbreaking technology can generate up to 1,000 quality waves per hour, ranging from 50cm (1.7ft) to almost 2m (6.5ft) in height. We can produce a new wave every 8-10 seconds.
As a Supervisor – Surf Operations, you will assist in the running of a successful & growing business by delivering a fantastic customer experience. It will be a busy job as you will be making sure our lake operations run smoothly and that we are always operating in a safe, secure and legal way.
This role supports our Surf Operations and Surf Experience Managers, you will need to act as a role model to our large surf operations team (in the region of 70 people at our peak) which consists of Surf Coaches, Lifeguards and Surf Tech’s. This will involve understanding The Wave’s customer journey and The Wave’s T&C as well as providing and championing the highest level of service to all our visitors. You will need to plan and lead shifts, so everyone is performing at their best throughout the day and all lessons / sessions are running on time. You’ll be inducting and training new wavemakers as well as participating in performance management activities, carrying out and recording team one to ones then reporting back to Surf Managers.
We take health and safety seriously and we want you to help ensure your team follow The Wave’s health and safety policies. We’ll train you in The Wave’s standard and normal operating procedures, so you know them inside out and are able to direct and answer procedural queries confidently. You’ll work with the surf ops managers to ensure accident and incident reporting is carried out correctly and carry out regular equipment and first aid inventories.
It is essential that the successful applicants have experience of operating in a high-volume environment and leading a large team on shift. At our peak we will be hosting up to 800 people per day with our lake operating 14 hours per day. In order to execute this we need wavemakers who are able to work under pressure, have great people skills and possess A proactive and ambitious mindset, with a desire to ‘muck-in’!

We are looking for 3 x Surf Operations Supervisors to join us on fixed-term contracts during our forthcoming season starting at the end of January. These will be 35 hour contracts.
