Team England amped to travel to Scotland to compete at the 2021 British Championships
Surfing England are elated to announce the surfers who will travel to represent Team England at the 2021 British Surfing Championships & British Cup, which is scheduled to run on the 10th – 11th April in Thurso, Scotland.
The championship event has been delayed from 2020 due to coronavirus, and we are excited to see the Scottish Surfing Federation now able to deliver the contest. This event is a hugely important contest for our Team England surfers. The contest will select the British Team who will travel to the ISA World Surfing Championships in May 2021, where the final Olympic places will be battled for.
The surfers who will travel and represent Team England are:
Women:
- Ellie Turner
- Alys Barton
- Lucy Campbell
- Emily Currie (wildcard)
Men:
- Luke Dillon
- Stanley Norman
- Barnaby Cox
- Jayce Robinson (wildcard)
A huge congratulations to this stellar team representing England up in Scotland. We are frothing to see the action unfold and will be sharing updates on social media throughout the weekend, and as we have more information and contest details from the Scottish Surfing Federation.
Team England have retained the Cup Champions title since the contest was reintroduced in 2018 and we’ll be charging for that title and the top men’s and women’s spots!
The surfers selected all qualified through the selection process set out in 2020 by Surfing England, having competed at the 2020 English National Surfing Championships, or been successful as a wildcard applicant.
A thank you to our incredible volunteers who are travelling and supporting the team, Minnow Green and Dave Renaud. A further thank you to Norman Wright who will be representing England on the judging panel at this prestige event and to Richie Inskip part of the teams support, but unable to accompany the team in person due to the tight covid restrictions for the event.
Thanks to our Team England partners, The Wave, Caravan and Motorhome Club, Korev, dryrobe and Surfdome. Thank you to PADSTOW ROCKS who have joined our journey as we head towards surfing debuting in the Olympics!
There are strict covid rules in place across Scotland including a ban on spectators. The event details may be subject to change should the rules or associated guidance change.
