Important Announcement for this weekend’s 2018 English Adaptive Surfing Open at Fistral Beach:
Following consultation with the competitors, contest officials have made the decision to call the event ON!
Check in for all competitors is at 12:45-1pm on Saturday. This is a significant moment for the event, where the spirit of the surfers has shone through and assisted us in a difficult decision and we thank them for this. With very marginal surf forecast that shows a high chance of uncontestable waves, the decision to push on and run the event has been made by both surfers and event organisers to ensure that we bring our community together with our domestic and international field of surfers and use this opportunity to grow the impact of the event and celebrate the discipline of Adaptive Surfing. We all look forward to sharing ideas on equipment, access, safety and the growth of programmes, competitions and the network around the world. We are hoping that the current pulse of swell forecast for Saturday afternoon arrives on time; however, if contestable conditions aren’t found throughout the duration of the event, then contest organisers may decide not to award national titles. If conditions dictate, then we may request flexibility from all to run till late in the day on Saturday, and potentially in to Sunday morning.
The training session on Adaptive Surfing to help educate and develop leaders in the English Surf community in the morning continues as planned. We ask all volunteers who have signed up for this to check in at 8:00am. Please check your emails for a schedule for the day if you have signed up.
Competitors, Supports, Staff & Volunteers you will receive a schedule for the day via email.
